Transforming mental healthcare
At Be Here Now, we believe in a mind-body-spirit holistic approach to mental wellness, and understand the value in guiding clients toward being experts on their own healing journey. We are an EMDR-based wellness center, valuing its evidence-based effectiveness for most individuals, regardless of the presenting struggles. We also integrate other holistic modalities into the treatment tailored to the unique needs of our clients.
A compassionate approach
We embed Eastern philosophy, spirituality, and wellness practices into our treatment approach. By combining ancient wisdom with Western psychology, we utilize an eclectic array of therapeutic techniques, including mindfulness, meditation, yogic principles, and spirituality. There is a balance in nature and this balance needs to exist within the human condition. Masculine and feminine energy (yin/yang) encompass the entirety of a human being, but far too often there is an imbalance that affects interactions, thoughts, creativity, and all aspects of human life. Compassion and empathy are at the heart of Be Here Now, and we value our clients’ desire to have a safe, welcoming space to share and process their deepest wounds and difficulties.
What is EMDR?
EMDR is an evidence-based treatment focused on the brain’s ability to take past experiences and update them with present information. The approach is based on the belief that past emotionally-charged experiences are attached to your present emotions, sensations, and beliefs about yourself. The therapist uses bilateral stimulation such as alternative tapping or eye movement, similar to REM sleep patterns, to desensitize and reprocess trauma stored in the mind and body, and instill positive, adaptive core beliefs associated with the traumatic memories. EMDR rewires the brain, specifically the neural pathways, and releases the tension and emotions stored in the body. This results in more freedom, joy and clarity related to trauma and blocking beliefs much more rapidly than traditional talk therapy. You are fully awake, present, and in control of the process, and you do not have to talk about the details of your trauma in order to process.
